Digital Preservation in accordance with the law

Digital conservation according to law, or substitutive conservation, is the process regulated by Italian law that allows to ensure the full legal validity of an electronic document, thus giving it a legal effectiveness equal to that of any paper document.

Digital preservation concerns all company documentation which by law must be kept for some time.

The benefit for businesses is that they can save on printing, archiving and retention costs.

More specifically, the procedure presupposes that these digital documents are given the digital signature, which makes the document unchangeable and recognizes its belonging, and the time stamp, thanks to which it is possible to date the digital document with certainty.
